| Expert testimony and analysis of photographic evidence With the proliferation of digital cameras and widespread availability of digital manipulation software, the veracity of photographic evidence has never been more open to question in a court of law. I am a commercial photographer with over 35 years experience who is also a Photoshop expert. My specialty is combining these skills to create digitally enhanced images. I have received international recognition for my work. I bring to the table: - A deep, practical knowledge of light, color and perspective.
- The ability to calculate the relative position of the sun for any time, date and place on the planet - sometimes being able to determine by studying shadow length and angles whether an outdoor photo taken in the sun could have been taken when it was said it was.
- A practical knowledge of optics and their effect on how subjects are depicted.
- The knowledge of how to create many special effects in still photography.
- A very deep knowledge of the use of Photoshop and other digital imaging programs to manipulate photographs.
- I am able to use my skills as a Photoshop expert to often tease out and make visible details in an image which exist but which are not discernible, including evidence of alteration.
- The ability to examine digital files for tampering including retouching or compositing by detecting imperfections left from manipulation that are invisible to the naked eye.
- Through the examination of the photographic file I can often determine whether the image was taken when a witness says it was.
- The ability to make an informed judgement as whether an image is an accurate representation of what it depicts or is misleading.
- The analysis of the colors in the image to determine if they are reasonably accurate or if they distort and misrepresent what they depict.
- The ability to express myself in a way that can be easily understood by laymen, both verbally and in writing.
